Fedora Core 5 ISO + Updates

Jun 6, 2006 07:07 GMT  ·  By

Fedora Core 5 Re-Spin are ISOs based upon Fedora Core 5, which include all the updates released as of May 23rd, 2006. These releases are available for both i386 and x86_64 architectures, but unfortunately the x86_64 ISO is just for testing only. They are available via BitTorrent.

The Re-Spin project has been taken up by The Fedora Unity Team to provide the Community with the chance to install Fedora Core with recent updates. This is a very good thing they did because Fedora now has updates which might otherwise be several hundred megabytes of download. You can contribute to the Community by seeding the torrent after your download has completed or by joining the test process.

The Fedora Unity Project wants to make these releases very often, each month preferably. Early snapshots will be taken mid-month to start testing. Final snapshots will be taken about a week before the release. All the ISO images are tested using a 15-point test matrix to ensure the quality that the Fedora community expects. If you are interested in helping with the testing or seeding efforts, please contact the Fedora Unity team.

As many of you already know, the goal of The Fedora Project is to work with the Linux community to build a complete, general purpose operating system exclusively from free software.
