The Fedora Unity Project has announced, a couple of hours ago, the availability of new ISO Re-Spins (DVD Sets only) for Fedora 9. The Re-Spin ISOs are based on the official Fedora 9 (codename Sulphur) installation media, with all the updates available as of October 4th, 2008. They are compatible with i386, x86_64 and PPC architectures - however, this is a DVD only release, because of some packaging problems.

Fedora 9 was officially released on May 13th, 2008 and it was the first Linux distribution to introduce hard drive encryption support implemented in the Live installer (a feature that is still missing from the popular Ubuntu distro). It also featured Linux kernel 2.6.25, GNOME 2.22.1, GIMP 2.4.5 and Firefox 3 Beta 5.

As you probably already know, the beta version of the upcoming Fedora 10 Linux distribution was released last Tuesday, and it includes the newly released GNOME 2.24 desktop environment, an improved NetworkManager, RPM 4.6, KDE 4.1, and the famous Linux kernel 2.6.27 (with better webcam and wireless network support). Fedora 10 will be released sometime at the end of this month, closer to the Ubuntu 8.10 launch (on October 30th).
