The Fedora Project has released the final version of Fedora 21, the next generation of the famous Linux distribution that provides a stable and progressively better user experience.

After a long wait, the final version of Fedora 21 has arrived and it seems, simply put, the best release ever made. It feels responsive and stable, not to mention the fact that the GNOME 3.14.2 desktop environment integrates perfectly with the system.

All the problems that have been reported in the past few months have been corrected and the developers have managed to offer a stable version.

As it was previously announced, the distribution now comes in three different flavors catering to the needs of specific users. The three editions are Workstation, Server, and Cloud.

The Workstation flavor is actually the desktop one, for regular users, the Cloud edition comes with images that can be used in private cloud environments like OpenStack, and the Server version is built to run application stacks that are produced, tested, and distributed by the Server Working Group.

Fedora 21 is a great release

The previous Fedora 20 version was good and no one is disputing that, but it didn't really impress. The new version of this distro built by the Fedora Project community. is a lot more impressive and it will be regarded as the best one so far.

"The Fedora Project is pleased to announce Fedora 21, the final release, ready to run on your desktops, servers, and in the cloud. Fedora 21 is a game-changer for the Fedora Project, and we think you're going to be very pleased with the results. As part of the Fedora.next initiative, Fedora 21 comes in three flavors: Cloud, Server, and Workstation -- whether you're using Linux on your laptop, using Linux on your servers, or spinning up containers or images in the cloud, we have what you need to be successful."

"The Fedora Workstation is a new take on desktop development from the Fedora community. Our goal is to pick the best components, and integrate and polish them. This work results in a more polished and targeted system than you've previously seen from the Fedora desktop. We want our desktop operating system to solve your problems, not be your problem," reads the official announcement.

Some of the more exciting features in Fedora 21 workstation include the experimental Wayland support, a much better and simplified installation procedure, HiDPI support, the latest GNOME packages, and much, much more.

Check out the official announcement for more details about this release. You can download Fedora 21 right now from Softpedia. This is a Live CD and it should work just fine from a USB key or inside a virtual environment, like VirtualBox. The installer works very well and it's one of the strong points of the new release.
