The Rad Hat Developers will integrate GNOME 3.14 if it launches in time

The developers of Fedora 21 are now discussing the features and the packages that are going to be included in the next version, and it seems that they will try to get the latest GNOME release possible.

Red Hat developers are trying to determine which packages will be implemented in the next Fedora edition and some pretty important decisions have been made already. For example, Fedora 21 will include Java 8, which will be the default Java runtime, and Ruby on Rails 4.1 will be included by default as well.

Now, another hot topic of interest is the default desktop environment. As you all know, Fedora is using GNOME, and the proposition to include the 3.12 branch has been taken into consideration. Even better, if GNOME 3.14 is launched in time, it will be adopted by the Red Hat developers.

“Update GNOME to the latest upstream release. Depending on the Fedora 21 schedule, this might be GNOME 3.12 or 3.14. The Wayland port of GNOME is still a preview in 3.12,” noted Red Hat's Jaroslav Reznik in the proposal.

Given the fact that Fedora releases always stayed true to the GNOME desktop and that the GNOME project is actually using Fedora to demonstrate their progress is a good indication that this proposition will most likely be adopted without any issues.
