The latest Fedora development cycle has been plagued by all sorts of problems, but the devs seem to have overcome the issues and they managed to announced the release of the first Alpha.

Fedora 21 has been in the works for quite some time and it's expected to arrive in a few months. The first Alpha in the series has been postponed a few times already, but now the devs from Red Hat seem to have things under control and Fedora 21 Alpha will land on September 23, in just a couple of days.

"The Fedora Engineering Steering Commitee held a 'Go/No Go' meeting regarding the Fedora 21 alpha, and it was agreed that the current release candidates for Fedora 21 met the release criteria. With this decision, this means that Fedora 21 will be released on Tuesday September 23, 2014. The Fedora 21 Alpha will be the first test release of the new 3 product Fedora.next structure that introduces Fedora Workstation, Fedora Cloud and Fedora Server," reads the announcement made by Ryan Lerch.

Fedora 21 will be the first one in the series to not have a name and it marks the start of an entire new direction for the project, although it's still unclear what that direction will be. For now, the obvious changes are related to the fact that the development has been separated into Fedora Workstation, Fedora Cloud, and Fedora Server.

We will prepare a screenshot tour as soon as Fedora 21 Alpha becomes available.
