Last month we've announced some of the features that will be implemented in the upcoming Fedora 17 (Beefy Miracle) Linux operating system.

On the Fedora Engineering Steering Committee (FESCo) meeting that took place two days ago, January 9th, the developers approved several more features for the Fedora 17 release:

· GNOME 3.4 desktop environment; · The GIMP 2.8; · Support for the Erland R15 language; · GCC 4.7 support (default compiler); · GHC (Glasgow Haskell Compiler) 7.4; · PHP 5.4; · Support for Lohit Unicode 6.0; · Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) support; · iSCSI support; · OpenStack; · Riak database; · ibus-pinyin; · oVirt.

The development cycle of Fedora 17 will have an Alpha and a Beta release. The final version will released sometime in May 2012. Also see the official release schedule for Fedora 17 (Beefy Miracle).
