The Beefy Miracle reaches Beta development state!

Yesterday, April 17th, the Fedora Project announced the immediate availability for download of the Beta development release of the upcoming Fedora 17 (Beefy Miracle) operating system.

The KDE Live CD of Fedora 17 Beta is built on top of the KDE Software Compilation 4.8.1 desktop environment and it is powered by Linux kernel 3.3.

Among other improvements in Fedora 17 Beta we can mention that Firewalld is now the default firewall solution, OpenStack has been updated to version 2012.1 (Essex), OpenJDK 7 as the default Java Runtime Environment, and GCC 4.7.x as the main compiler.

Fedora 17 Beta is distributed as an installable DVD and Live CDs with the GNOME, KDE, Xfce and LXDE desktop environemnts, available for both 64-bit and 32-bit architectures.
