Since Office 15 is just in the Milestone 2 stage of the development process, it will still take quite some time before Microsoft provides end users with a public Beta Build for testing.

However, an early sneak peek at a new application which the company has already packed into the M2 release of Office 2010’s successor is already available.

Softpedia readers should feast their eyes on Moorea, the new Office 15 component, which is demoed in the three videos embedded at the bottom of the screen.

The Moorea demonstrations come courtesy of Roberto Branni (WinBeta) who took a deeper look at Build 15.0.2703.1000.

Microsoft has yet to confirm Moorea, or offer any details about the new application which will be featured in Office 15.

Since no official information is available, it’s all up for speculation, and the videos below will certainly make it easier for users to at least get an idea about what this new Office component is all about.

I will say this, if PowerPoint and OneNote would have a child, that child could very well be christened Moorea.

The documents that can be authored with this new Office 15 component seem somewhere at the intersection of a PowerPoint presentation and an OneNote file on steroids.

In this regard, have a look at the galleries which can be built using Moorea. The results are nothing short of amazing, especially in the context in which Microsoft will streamline functionality such as publishing into the Cloud.

Just as it is the case for Office 15, Moorea is still in the very earliest stages of development, and as such, some of the functionality featured, such as embedding, does not yet work.

The promise of having everything users need in a single new Office 15 component also includes video content, not just text and photos, so it will be extremely interesting to see what this app grows up to be by RTM.

I’ve said this again, although some expect Office 15 to be delivered by the end of 2012, somewhat in tandem with Windows 8, I think it will spend the next couple of years in development.
