A 14-year-old has chosen to give up using Facebook for six months. She has struck a deal with her father ensuring she is compensated for her time off the social networking site.

According to Blippit, Paul Baier has agreed to pay his 14-year-old daughter Rachel $200 (€148) to stay off the site for six months. They have even drawn up a “Facebook deactivation agreement,” displayed above.

As you can see, Rachel will be receiving her payment in two installments. She is getting $50 (€37) on April 15, but the lump sum of $150 (€111) will only be available to her on her last day of school, June 26.

She is obliged to allow her father access to her password and plans to use the money to purchase “stuff.”

“She mostly wanted and needed the money as she has been frustrated by not finding babysitting jobs. She is an honors student but she says Facebook can be distracting,” Baier describes.
