Quite some time has passed since we last saw a Fatal1ty branded motherboard hit the market, but Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel will get its name on motherboards yet again, rumors suggesting these will be built by Asus, although not many details are known at this time.

Although this name will surely ring some bells for most “older” enthusiasts out there, Fatal1ty branded motherboard have been missing from the market for quite some time now since they were manufactured by the now defunct Abit (Universal abit in its latest years).

Targeted towards gamers and enthusiast users, Fatal1ty motherboard came with all sort of gaming and overclocking orientated features, as well as with a hefty price tag.

As a result, these were the target of a lot of debates, many enthusiasts considering these motherboards to be nothing more than an attempt to get a great deal of money out of the enthusiasts pocket, especially considering all the problems that Abit motherboards showcased during their latest years.

However, this is all in the past now, Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel just posting some very interesting comments “about how he is in Taiwan right now checking out his upcoming motherboards for his product line,” according to Legit Reviews.

Although he hasn't provided us with any other information regarding this topic, from the picture posted together with the comments, one can assume this motherboard will be based on Intel's upcoming P67 chipset for Sandy Bridge processors.

Furthermore, the heatsink that is shown in the picture carries an eerie resemblance with some heatsinks used by Asus in their ROG series motherboards, fueling some rumors that state these upcoming boards will be built by Asus.

If this is actually true, I can't help it but wonder how these will actually fit in Asus lineup, the Taiwanese company already building the ROG line of motherboards to target gamers and enthusiasts.
