A photo of a car crash victim's phone has been released by the Greeley Police Department in Colorado.

Officials want the last text message that the driver sent out to serve as a reminder of the fact that texting and driving can prove deadly.

The photo has been made public with the consent of the family of twenty-two-year-old motorist Alexander Heit.

He was setting up a meeting with a friend via instant message when he lost control of his vehicle and it capsized.

He had swerved into incoming traffic while writing and was trying to get back, pulling on the steering wheel too hard.

“Sounds good my man, seeya soon, ill tw,” his last words read, as relayed by the Toronto Sun.

Heit's parents want other students to know that failing to pay attention in traffic can get you severely hurt or worse.

“Please, vow to never, NEVER text and drive. In a split second you could ruin your future, injure or kill others, and tear a hole in the heart of everyone who loves you,” his mother Sharon says.
