New studies were conducted based on scientific proposals

Heeding advice coming in their direction from a wide variety of sources, researchers at the Italian lab that proposed the existence of faster-than-light neutrinos recreated their experiments, only to discover the same results over and over again.

Since their paper was first published, on September 23, the international community has been providing constructive criticism on various aspects of the experiments. The OPERA team took the most important into account when they carried out the same experiments.

“The new measurements do not change the initial conclusion. Nevertheless, the observed anomaly in the neutrinos' time of flight from CERN to Gran Sasso still needs further scrutiny and independent measurement before it can be refuted or confirmed,” the OPERA group adds.

The team is following scientific protocol. Since they are sure of their results, they are now releasing all data for peer-review and scientific scrutiny, so that all interested physicists can have access to them. This approach increases the chances of someone finding a glitch in the data, if one is to be found at all.
