A study revealed

Today's Internet connection is pretty fast, but consumers are always looking for better technologies and services. According to Web User News, a survey conducted by BroadbandChoices.co.uk revealed that 61 percent of the British Internet users would want faster connections in order to be able to download larger files, such as DVD-quality movies.

"The current services offered to consumers are simply not of a high enough standard to warrant utilising this service, and that if speeds were improved consumers are more likely to use broadband to watch TV and/or download films," Michael Phillips, of BroadbandChoices.co.uk, said according to Web User News.

"The key question is, if broadband has the capability for 100Mbps speeds will ISPs be able to deliver this successfully to all of their customers? Questions also hang over whether ISPs will be able to consistently deliver 100Mbps speeds since performance to date has been mixed, at best," he added.

Certainly, we would all want a faster Internet connection, but I'm not sure that all the Internet service providers would agree to give us crazy speeds just for downloading content from the web. Imagine that if several users start downloading movies in the same time, the browsing experience of other users who are connected to the web just for visiting websites will seriously be affected by huge loading times.

And it wouldn't be the first time when ISPs would restrict the downloads because they require too much bandwidth. Just think at Comcast, one of the top US Internet Service Providers that was criticized by the consumers that it limited the speed of certain applications, as they got too much bandwidth and affected the browsing experience of other users. At that time, it was said the ISP was limiting the BitTorrent downloads, as the consumers who were connected to this application reached incredible high download speeds.
