When you hear that OCZ has a new line of products you automatically think about blazing fast memory and sometimes about nicely built power sources, too. However, almost always it is about a new memory kit, just like now. Just when everybody thought that Corsair and SuperTalent finally went ahead and OCZ starts to lag away behind them, the overclocker's favorite company released a brand new memory kit that works at
1600MHz.

OCZ has added "enhanced bandwidth" performance memory to its product lineup, which, according to the company and cited by TGDaily, "increases effective memory bandwidth through the optimization of memory latencies between the system memory, the chipset, and memory controller." The PC3-12800 Enhanced Bandwidth Edition memory kits is built with hardcore gamers and power users in mind. Apart from the sheer DDR3 speed, this memory kit features decreased timing latencies. According to the OCZ company, the Enhanced Bandwidth Edition was optimized for high end motherboard made by Asus. Two separate, but not very different models are available: the Platinum Edition (the very, very high-end model) and the simpler Enhanced Bandwidth model.

While Intel's P35 chipset is expected to perform great, both the Platinum and the EB editions will prove their qualities better on the soon to be released X38 motherboards. The new memory modules will come as dual channel kits of two sticks of 1024MB each. They will be cooled by OCZ's "tried and true" platinum-mirrored XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) heatspreaders. On Asus built platforms, these memory kits were rated with 7-6-6-20 timings, while running at a frequency of 1600MHz, as opposed to 7-7-7-20 while used on other mainboards at the same frequency. Their nominal voltage is 1.9V and they come packed in the 240 pin standard DIMM format.

As all other OCZ memory products, these too come with a lifetime warranty, industry-leading technical support for unparalleled peace of mind and have been hand-tested for quality assurance and compatibility.
