Comedienne and television personality Joan Rivers is now in hospital, on life support, as she’s being brought out of the medically induced coma she was put in after botched surgery on her vocal chords. As doctors are waiting to assess whether she’s suffered brain damage or not, E! has canceled the taping of her Fashion Police show.

Rivers went to a private clinic for an endoscopy when she went into respiratory and cardiac arrest, under anesthesia. She was then moved to the Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was put in a coma to allow her vital signs to go back to normal. Her condition is still critical, but stable.

Doctors have warned the family that she might have suffered brain damage, which could mean anything from being left in a vegetative state to having lost the ability to walk, which would see her spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair. It will probably take another few days until they can determine her exact condition.

“Taping for Joan Rivers’ E! network show ‘Fashion Police’ – scheduled to take place in New York this week in conjunction with Fashion Week – has been canceled, a source told the Daily News on Monday,” the celebrity publication reports.

Joan is missing out on the biggest fashion event of the season: she will be mad when she wakes up and realizes it. Here’s to her making a full recovery.
