Traditionally, animals with supernumerary legs have been considered an anomaly, but now a British farmer plans to breed six-legged lambs on a mass scale to help boost the food yields.

Farmer Simon Bennett, from Riverside Organic in Whatcroft, Cheshire, already produced the first two six-legged lambs, called Cupcake and Sprinkles. The animals are completely healthy and are currently being observed by experts to identify the potential genetic problems, if there are any.

Mr. Bennett told the Mirror that the development of the two six-legged lambs happened completely “by chance,” and that he hoped their birth would motivate the initiation of a massive breeding program to help reduce the cost of meat for consumers.

The farmer and the experts were left speechless when the two animals arrived.

“We had no outside involvement from scientists, we were not trying to create these lambs, we're an organic farm so their existence is purely down to Mother Nature,” Simon said, according to the aforementioned source.

“Their six legs have made them fitter and leaner and we expect their meat to be extra succulent,” he added.

Scientists and vets from all over the world rushed to see the animals for themselves. Now, the British Livestock Society is trying to establish the feasibility of a possible breeding program, which could significantly reduce the cost of meat.

PS: Well, given that today is April Fools' Day, this could be just an elaborate joke set up by our source, but wouldn't it be cool if it were true?
