A farmer in Spain has come across a meteorite fragment in the Retuerta del Bullaque region, south of Madrid over 20 years ago, and never knew it could be worth something.

When Faustino Asensio Lopez found the large iron meteorite piece in 1980, he thought he had uncovered military scrap.

It took until 2011 for him to contact geologist Juan Carlos Gutierrez to appraise the piece. He got the idea after he had heard news of a meteorite shower in the area.

He was told that the rock that he was using as a ham press at his family's farm was worth a fortune. According to News Australia, the piece weighing 100 kg (220.5 pounds) has recently been appraised at $5.3 million ($4.1 million).
