14 DAY TRIAL // It doesn't really matter what games turn free over night - as soon as a game is free, people start downloading it just for the sake of it. However, when games like Far Cry are involved, things are a little different. The hype has reached the critical limit on the Internet, as Ubisoft's Far Cry, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and Rayman Raving Rabbids are FREE to download and play. There is a small catch though. No really, it's small.
Apparently, the games are ad-supported, which means gamers will be forced to watch a certain commercial for a certain given time before or during gameplay. Hey, that's a small price to pay for a free copy of Far Cry. Not to mention that some of you may find the ads interesting or funny.
I for one can't believe how much spoiled gamers can bitch about commercials being stuck to this free version of Far Cry. Many of them start off commenting that the game is a bargain bin by now and that no offer will convince them to even get it for free. Others claim they have as many as seven copies of the game at home.
OK, good for you guys, but is it that bad that you have to watch a lousy commercial before playing a FREE game? If you have dozens of copies scattered around in your room that's fine with everyone, but what if they made BioShock ad-supported? You'd get that one in a giffy, am I right?
Now you'll say "yes but BioShock isn't a bargain bin; wait five years and then we'll talk." I agree, but some gamers see Far Cry as a great game. Some haven't even played it you know, so don't spoil their fun. Don't take it personal but a free game is a free game and nothing can stand in the way of the ever-searching-for-bargains gamer.
Alright, all this being said, know that Ubisoft's Far Cry, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and Rayman Raving Rabbids are now FREE to download and play. For US residents only though. Don't you just hate me for writing this right at the end?
