An extensive gameplay clip from Far Cry 4 found its way to the Internet, showing a healthy chunk of in-game footage from the PlayStation 4 build of the upcoming first-person shooter.

Ubisoft is preparing an even more interesting experience than the one in Far Cry 3, bringing new and exciting environments, new ground vehicles and weapons, mini-helicopters, elephants to ride, glide suit fun, a greatly expanded level-up system, and a brand new storyline for us to explore.

Although the game initially started life as Far Cry 3.5, with the team intending to continue the story of Jason and his fight against Vaas somehow, that idea was quickly scrapped and the team decided to put all the crazy elements they wanted into the game.

A brand new setting

Players will be able to step into the shoes of protagonist Ajay Ghale, embarking on an engrossing adventure in a fictional region set in the Himalayas, called Kyrat. His adventure will explore the rebellion movement against dictator Pagan Min, but also his past and connection with the new antagonist.

The developers are committed to improving the experience offered in Far Cry 3, and one of the community's complaints was in relation to the linearity of the campaign, as all the missions were sequential.

For Far Cry 4, Ubisoft prepared several parallel storyline threads, all going on at the same time, for players to explore as they see fit, in addition to all the other activities that the sprawling open world has to offer.

A lot of gameplay refinements

One of the most exciting features of Far Cry 3 was the ability to assault enemy outposts using a wealth of different tactics, from sneaking in undetected and setting explosives at key points to raining grenades from a vantage point or taking down all the opponents undetected, using stealth takedowns.

The outposts will make a return in Far Cry 4, but with a lot of new elements, including a reversal in roles once you capture an outpost, with the enemies attempting to take it back from you. You'll get calls from your allies when a friendly outpost is under siege and you'll have the option to go there and defend it against the armed opponents.

If you really enjoy capturing outposts, you'll also have the option to reset conquered ones and try your mettle again, encouraged to experiment with different ways to take enemies out of commission.

Far Cry 4 is scheduled to come out on November 18 worldwide, headed to the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms.
