Pagan Min could have been a Far Cry hero, depending on the context

Far Cry 4 has received an array of new details about its main villain, Pagan Min, and how he could have become the hero of another game in the series.

Far Cry 4 was confirmed to the world last month and a few details about the core premise have managed to appear, revealing that players control Ajay Ghale, a young guy who returns to his birth country of Kyrat and will confront the current dictator, Pagan Min.

The game was on full display at E3 2014 a few hours ago, with Ubisoft sharing the opening minutes that see Ajay meet Pagan Min, not to mention a gameplay demonstration that showed how they will be able to explore the country of Kyrat, located in the Himalaya mountain range, as well as how they can team up with a friend to take down fortresses and enemy outposts.

Now, Ubisoft has offered on the UbiBlog way more details about Pagan Min, who's not your traditional video game villain.

A short description of his origins and his rise to power in Kyrat was mentioned, and it seems that, while cruel, Min is definitely a smart individual.

"The self-appointed ruler of Kyrat escaped from his underworld roots, took on a new identity, and set his sights on the nearby failed state of Kyrat. He quickly aligned himself with the Royalists – but after a few months of bloodshed and betrayals, the young Min seized the throne for himself and began a reign of terror against all who opposed him," Ubisoft said.

"He built his Royal Army with a mix of loyal militia from China and Kyrati locals, then proceeded to rule with an utter lack of respect for the deep-seated traditions and culture of Kyrat."

What's more, Far Cry 4 narrative director Mark Thompson even goes so far as to say that Min's origins could have been the focus of another Far Cry game.

"You would play his campaign to take over Kyrat. The point where you meet him [in Far Cry 4], it’s years after he’s won. He’s gained the victory he wants to. And he’s kind of lost faith in what he did. He’s almost a little bit bored of what that victory brought him."

Ubisoft has also emphasized that Pagan Min is a different type of antagonist than Far Cry 3's Vaas, so players will be surprised by his actions.

Far Cry 4 is out on November 18, for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
