Ubisoft has just shared more details about the fort capture mechanic that's included in its upcoming Far Cry 4, confirming that these outposts can be conquered in a variety of ways, similar to how they were handled in Far Cry 3.

Far Cry 4 stars Ajay, who goes back to his native country of Kyrat, which is now ruled over by a dictator named Pagan Min.

After sharing quite a few details about the new villain and how he's quite different from Far Cry 3's Vaas, Ubisoft has dedicated a post on the UbiBlog to the fort capture system, which expands on the outposts from Far Cry 3.

Once again, before assaulting the fort, players can choose how they want to go in, either stealthily or with guns firing from any direction. Killing foes from afar using the sniper rifle is still supported, and you can quietly dispose of foes from a shorter range using the new automatic crossbow.

However, there are some other mechanics supported, such as riding an elephant straight through the front gate.

According to Ubisoft, the pachyderms are quite resilient and deadly to enemies. Players can easily control them when riding on top of the creatures and even if you get off, they'll continue dispatching of foes either by grabbing them with their trunk, or using their fierce tusks to tumble cars and other things.

However, the elephants aren't indestructible, and if players don't kill all the enemies in a timely manner, or let them call in reinforcements by sounding the alarm, tougher and tougher enemies will appear, armed with rocket launchers, machine guns, and more.

Another great way of assaulting forts is to use the small gyrocopter that was portrayed in the E3 2014 gameplay demonstration earlier this week. Piloting it is also quite simple and you can chuck grenades towards the ground to surprise foes, especially since rifle fire apparently can't reach you when at a sufficient altitude. However, rockets and sniper fire will, so always make sure you're taking out such enemies first.

Healing hasn't been changed as opposed to Far Cry 3, as Ajay will inject boosters into his body and, when those are depleted, he'll resort to pulling out bullets with his knife, in trademark Far Cry style.

You can expect to hear much more of Far Cry 4 in the following months, as Ubisoft has confirmed it for a November release on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
