Far Cry 3 is due for a launch later during 2012, but the developers working on the game and publisher Ubisoft have not offered too much information on it up until now, preferring to surround the game with a wall of mystery.

Edge Magazine has managed to get a closer look at the game and some of the information published has made its way to the fan community.

The leading man of Far Cry 3 is James Brody and it seems that he is not, as initially thought, a recent arrival on the island that features as the game world.

He has been there for quite some time trying to find a trace of his kidnapped girlfriend. It seems that the long stay has affected his mental health, which translates into Far Cry 3 as a series of hallucinations that strike at the most inopportune moments.

It seems that finding out more about them and about the mental state of the protagonist will be one of the important plot points of the game.

It seems that the many enemies that the player will meet are also a little bit crazy, which might translate into erratic behavior on the battlefield and into moves that will surprise the gamer.

The developers have shown two demo missions for Far Cry 3, designed to show off the different play styles that players can adopt in the game and the variety of reactions from the game world.

One of them showed a stealth assault while another focused on a scripted sequences which saw the player escaping, under enemy fire, from a sinking ship.

Far Cry 3 will allow gamers a lot of options when it comes to approaching each situation, allowing for distance kills with s sniper rifle but also a more head-on approach with two weapons firing at the same time from close range.

Far Cry 3 will be launched on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC.
