Ubisoft has shared a few details about Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, the standalone expansion for last year's Far Cry 3, confirming that it sold over 500,000 units and even resulted in a sales boost for the original title.

Far Cry 3 amazed gamers with its realism and intense story, and Ubisoft followed it with Blood Dragon, an outlandish experiment in the vein of 1980s sci-fi movies that delighted through its over-the-top story and gameplay.

Now, Ubisoft has confirmed, via GI, that the downloadable expansion was a hit, selling over 500,000 units worldwide on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and even helped increase the sales of the regular Far Cry 3.

The title, coupled with another successful downloadable experience in the form of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, has allowed Ubisoft to experiment with lower-priced digital games and will continue in this direction.
