New weapons and vehicles

Far Cry 2 is a great game, we have written a very positive review for it, and the title will ensure a great experience for any sandbox shooter fan out there. From the gorgeous graphics to the new level of realism employed in the gameplay, a lot of the game's features will have an impact on you, especially the fire which is probably one of the most beautiful things implemented in the release.

Although the game is very entertaining, the long roads and a bit monotonous atmosphere did need new things, which would add some variations to the gameplay. So, Ubisoft, the developer and publisher of the game, has recently announced that it would launch a DLC (Downloadable Content) pack for this title, introducing various weapons and vehicles, along with fresh multiplayer maps.

This DLC, entitled Fortune's Pack, will contain three brand new weapons, the Silenced Shotgun, a Sawed-off shotgun and a crossbow, guaranteed to add more spice to killing mercenaries in the African savanna. For all those long journeys across the huge maps, two vehicles will be introduced, a Unimog, which is a sort of armored troop carrier, and a quad, which lets you take the scenic route, as opposed to the normal roads. For multiplayer fans, four maps will be included: Cheap Labor, Last Resort, Lake Smear and Fort Fury.

Although all of these things sound very tempting, Ubisoft has also revealed the price for this pack, which is prohibitive to say the least, 9.99 dollars for PlayStation 3 owners and 800 MS Points for anyone who wants to purchase it for the Xbox 360. This is a pretty steep price, as you would normally find them tagged to a full Xbox Live Arcade or PlayStation Network title.

While no concrete release date has been revealed by the French company, it is reported that the pack will hit the Xbox Live Marketplace and PSN in time for the start of the holiday season, at the end of November or beginning of December. No news yet for a PC version of this DLC though, but it’s safe to say that Ubisoft will bring it to that platform in the near future.

Although Far Cry 2 is a great game, and most people would love to get new things to enhance the whole shooter experience, not a lot would purchase this DLC at such a high price. Let's just hope that the French company will release future packs for a more reasonable price.
