New challenges for players

The Far Cry series, as it has recently seen its second installment, has been one of Ubisoft's most precious projects for quite some time. The first title, although filled with clichés and a story that didn't really get players involved in the game, stunned a lot of gamers and industry analysts with its beautiful surroundings and great environments.

The second game, which appeared before last year's holiday season, was more of a spiritual successor, as it didn't have almost any connection with the first one. But it delivered some very great moments, which we detailed in our review of the game. But while the single-player aspect was the primary selling point, the multiplayer one also offered some interesting experiences and got a lot of players into it.

However, while it was top notch, a lot of experienced gamers asked Ubisoft to introduce a tougher mode, which would provide a more challenging multiplayer experience. As such, the French company has just announced that it will provide a hardcore mode to online matches as part of a future patch for the game.

“The hardcore mode has been designed as an answer to a community request. When designing the multiplayer game our team wanted to provide a balanced experience for most gamers. However some players were seeking and expecting a more realistic experience,” revealed the community manager of Ubisoft, Atmon, on the official forum of the game. “We hope that you will like the changes our team has implemented to let you enjoy the game, and play it the way you want.”

Here are the primary features that the hardcore mode will contain, once it will be launched:

“• Enemy names will disappear after the spawning invincibility period is over.

• A new option lets you tweak spawning time, but not spawning rate.

• A search option will be added to multiplayer that allows you to find games on hardcore mode.

• These features will be available on all platforms.”

Although not a lot of things, a big number of gamers will be more than happy to see that their online Far Cry 2 experience will get a boost in difficulty. Let's hope that we'll see the patch appear soon.
