Marvel might have hijacked all the attention on the 2015 summer blockbuster season with its “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” but 20th Century Fox wants you to give their film a fighting chance as well: this August, the “Fantastic Four” reboot will be dropping in theaters.

Embedded below is the first teaser trailer for it, released a short while ago. It sets the tone of the future franchise and briefly introduces us to the four members of the team before their mutations, but also shows a glimpse of their “after” alter egos.

“Fantastic Four” is directed by the young Josh Trank, whose biggest hit to date is the small-budget sleeper hit “Chronicle.” He is also booked to direct the sequel to “Fantastic Four” and a yet to be named “Star Wars” standalone pic, so I reckon he has a lot running on the success of this first film.

The reboot stars Kate Mara, Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell, and I will leave you to see for yourself whether they do a convincing job as Marvel’s famous crime-fighting team.

Personally, I can’t say I’m jumping with excitement at this one, but then again, this is just a teaser, not the full trailer. Perhaps this one will make the story seem more appealing when it comes out.
