Jared Padalecki, best known to fans as one of the two (very handsome) leads of the TV series “Supernatural,” has canceled several upcoming appearances with a couple of very cryptic tweets hinting at serious trouble. His fans are worried.

In March this year, the 32-year-old star opened up in an interview with Variety about struggling with severe depression, and it is believed his cancelation and Twitter messages might be related to that.

“I am in desperate and urgent need of my family”

This is how Jared’s initial message started, the one that canceled upcoming appearances because he couldn’t be away from his family anymore. He also announced that he would return home instantly, but he asked fans to reach out to him through whichever channel they had available.

“I need all of the love I can get right now. Please please give me a few seconds of your time and write me,” the actor said.

Further details of what must have happened are not available as of the time of writing, but since he had previously talked about his struggle with depression, it is believed that he must have had some kind of breakdown and that there’s a connection between these two.

As asked, the fans did not hesitate to reach out to the star on social media, wishing him the best and assuring him that he’d be in their prayers and well-wishes.

“Supernatural” has one of the largest online fanbases in recent years, which means that Jared and co-star / onscreen brother Jensen Ackles can count on the love and support of millions of people from all over the world in times like these.

No shame in asking for help

In the aforementioned Variety interview, Jared recalled an episode that occurred during the production of season 3 of the show, when he broke down in his trailer. A doctor saw him there and told him to get help because he was clinically depressed.

Jared had been struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts for some time, and seeking help not only got him through it but it also made it possible for him to use his platform to offer help to others. The actor is very active with several charities, including one that helps youth dealing with depression, addiction or self-harm.

“I say constantly that there’s no shame in dealing with these things,” he told Variety at the time. “There's no shame in having to fight every day, but fighting every day, and presumably, if you're still alive to hear these words or read this interview, then you are winning your war. You're here.”
