Tens of thousands of fans want to see Grand Theft Auto V on the PC platform, at least judging by a recent petition that's been accumulating support from lots of PC owners and GTA fans.

Grand Theft Auto V was officially revealed to the world last year and only in recent weeks did developer Rockstar Games actually release some concrete details about the title and how it was set to appear on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms in spring of 2013.

The reluctance of the developer to mention anything about a PC version, besides the fact that it's considering such a thing, has made quite a few PC owners upset.

As such, a GTA fan named Mike Julliard has set up a special petition online that asks Rockstar to make a PC version of the upcoming open-world game.

"GTA is an amazing PC game and the idea of it not being on PC is a mistake," he said in the petition's description.

"Please release GTA V on PC. GTA games have been a large part of so many people's lives and it's a big shame not seeing the newest iteration of the game being released on the most powerful platform. Things like modifications have always been a huge part of PC gaming and modded GTA is some of the most insanely fun times you can have."

"I hope you consider the release of GTA V on PC as it'll make many people very happy," he concludes.

At the time of writing, the petition has accumulated around 84,000 signatures and still needs 16,000 in order to reach its 100,000 mark.

More and more fans are currently making their voices heard through this petition, so check it out at this link.

Given Rockstar's track record with PC versions of its games, like with L.A. Noire, it's possible to see GTA V on the PC in fall of 2013, after it's had enough time to sell on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
