14 DAY TRIAL // “50 Shades of Grey” aficionados are now bending over backwards to have the parts of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele recast to Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel.
And by “bending over backwards” I mean that they've started an online petition demanding that Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam, who have recently landed the leading roles in this movie, be replaced with Matt and Alexis.
@dontouchmypatch, who started the petition, is quite determined to have his/her way. Hence the intense use of Caps Lock.
“Matt Bomer is the PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF CHRISTIAN GREY AND ALEXIS BLEDEL IS THE PERFECT ACTRESS TO REPRESENT ANASTASIA STEELE and if THEY ARE NOT, NOBODY WILL BE.
“And I read the whole trilogy and I can assure that Matt is the perfect actor for this movie and Alexis too. So please PLEASE, all of the GREYsessed and Bomerettes in the world NEED those actors. They always will be for us the Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. WE CAN DO ANYTHING GUYS, ANYTHING,” @dontouchmypatch explains.
The petition was started on the evening of September 4, and has thus far scored over 40,000 signatures.
“50 Shades of Grey” author E.L. James and the movie's producers aren't exactly thrilled about how things played out.
They say that, when casting parts for a movie, looks are by no means the only thing that's taken into consideration.
“There is a lot that goes into casting that isn’t just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor, etc, so if your favorite wasn’t cast, then it is most likely due to something on that list. Keep that in mind while hating and keep perspective,” Producer Dana Brunetti reportedly wrote on Twitter.
It seems to me that Dana Brunetti's tweet was one very polite way of saying “Go ahead and sign all the petitions you want. We'll still go with Dakota and Charlie.”
