Although most gamers settle for playing their favorite car games with just the normal controller, the true, hardcore fans of racing titles will go for a more complex setup, typically consisting of at least a pedal system and wheel. For this reason, the Fanatec company, a German manufacturer specialized in the development of high-end gaming accessories, has launched the RennSport Cockpit, a product which will certainly make gamers feel like they're literally driving a very fast race car.

Providing an original Race Car seat design (as used in the GTR series), the Fanatec RennSport Cockpit itself is constructed in an aluminum roll cage design that provides the stability needed during intense races. As the company also produces other gaming accessories, the RennSport cockpit is fully compatible with all Fanatec Porsche wheels.

This advanced gaming peripheral has been equipped with an extra wide seat, designed to provide more comfort while driving. The seat features a white fiberglass bucket (black carbon fiber optional), and can be adjusted on vertical and horizontal directions, as well as at specific angles. It is worth mentioning that this thing's pedals can be adjusted on a horizontal direction, while the wheel's height and angle can be modified.

The system sports an integrated shifter attachment on the right side (left side optional). Actually, the RennSport Cockpit supports the addition of all sorts of interesting extras, such as a sliding drawer for wireless keyboard directly under the racing wheel, a monitor bracket for up to three 24-inch monitors for full surround video and a monitor bracket for a single monitor up to 37-inch diagonal. Plus, also as an option, the system can be prepared to “receive” a 5.1 sound system.

The RennSport Cockpit from Fanatec sells for around 1,000 Euros, which is indeed a pretty high price point for most gamers, but I'm quite sure there are a lot of hardcore racing fans out there that are already piling up cash in order to get this thing.
