Bob Tur, a scientist, journalist and pilot who played a key role in several major events in American society (he was the one that shot the attack on Reginald Denny during the LA riots in 1992 and was the first to televise a high-speed police chase), is becoming a woman.

The other day, Bob announced that, because of gender dysphoria, he has started hormone replacement therapy with the ultimate goal of transitioning and becoming a transwoman.

He also called in on TMZ Live to talk about his decision and the changes he will expect in the following months. Some of them he’s already experimented, he says.

Bob also reveals that he is considering documenting his transition on a reality show because, he says, this is an issue on which everyone has an opinion but few actually know what it’s about.

As for how he decided to become Zoey, Bob says that “it got very depressing to be in the wrong body.” He says he too is in mourning for Bob, because he can’t be Zoey while Bob is still around.
