An automobile crash claimed the lives of four people, two adults and two children near the town of George in Washington.

The family was traveling in their SUV when it collided with a second vehicle around the corner of County Road 1 Northwest and Beverly-Burke Road, in the Gorge Amphitheatre area.

A spokesman for the Grant County Sheriff’s Office informed of the fact that the SUV landed in an irrigation canal, prompting the instant death of the parents.

“One of the vehicles ended up in the irrigation canal. Unfortunately, the driver, an adult male, his passenger, an adult female and two juveniles who were also in the vehicle all died.

“The man and the woman died at the scene and the children were transported to Quincy Valley Hospital where they died a short time later,” Kyle Foreman tells iFIBER One.

The Spokesman-Review wrote that the family car smashed into the hatchback in the intersection, and the impact launched it into a guardrail.

It then plummeted into the canal where it quickly sank and currents pulled it downstream some 100 yards (91.4 meters).

“The driver of the other vehicle received minor injuries and she was also taken to Quincy Valley Hospital,” Foreman adds.

Police have released the names of the victims of the crash – Dioselina Buenrostro, 33, Gabriel Ochoa, 35 and their children, 9-year-old Sandra Ochoa and 4-year-old Yesenia ‘Jessie’ Ochoa.

“Our prayers and thoughts are with this family’s loved ones,” Grant County Coroner Craig Morisson said in a statement.

The victims of the crash were residents of Stanwood, Washington, Morisson adds.

“In my 21 years in law enforcement, this is the most tragic, single incident I have ever been to.

“My heart is filled with sorrow, and I pray for peace and comfort for the surviving family members,” Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones says, according to a report by Daily Mail.
