Karla Begley has a 13-year-son Max, who was diagnosed with severe autism when he was 2. He spends the summer outside, in his grandparents’ garden in Newcastle, playing ball – but one so-called “mother” would rather his parents euthanized him because he’s an “animal.”

Below is an interview Ms. Begley gave to CityNews, after her family received an incredibly nasty letter from a neighbor complaining about the noise Max made.

Among other vicious things, it claims he should be euthanized because he’s of no use to anybody – and will never be – and because, with his constant “whaling,” he keeps “hard working people” up.

“It gets worse,” Ms. Begley says of the letter, barely able to fight back tears.

“I was shaking when I was reading it. It’s awful words. You don’t know why somebody would ever do such a thing,” Brenda Millson, Max’s grandmother, says.

The family is thinking of filing charges. Police are investigating.
