Family ‘Frantically’ Tried to Revive Brittany Murphy

On Sunday morning, 32-year-old actress Brittany Murphy was found collapsed in the bathroom of her house in the Hollywood Hills and was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She was pronounced dead on arrival and was unresponsive even before paramedics arrived on the scene, as her mother and husband desperately tried to bring her back, police notes reviewed by TMZ say.

As of yesterday, it was revealed that it was Brittany’s mother who found her body in the bathroom. Upon noticing that she was unresponsive, she called the actress’ husband, Simon Monjack, and together, they tried to revive her as they waited for paramedics to come. Their efforts were in vain, police notes say. Moreover, the same documents reveal that Murphy had been complaining of pains for the past 7 to 10 days, and was heavily medicated for them.

“Brittany Murphy’s husband and mother made a frantic attempt to revive her before paramedics arrived... this according to notes written by an investigator from the LA County Coroner’s office. And, there were a shocking number of strong prescription meds on Brittany’s nightstand. TMZ has reviewed the documents, written by Investigator Blacklock. According to his notes, Brittany Murphy ‘had been complaining of shortness of breath and severe abdominal pain’ for 7 to 10 days prior to her death,” TMZ writes.

“Brittany’s mother, Sharon Murphy, went to check on her daughter, opened the bathroom door and ‘discovered the decedent lying on the floor unresponsive.’ According to the notes, Sharon yelled for help. Brittany’s husband, Simon Monjack, who was in bed, heard the screams and ran to the bathroom. According to the notes, Sharon called 911 and Simon ‘attempted to revive the decedent by placing her in the shower and running the water.’ The notes continue – ‘The decedent remained unresponsive and purged her stomach contents prior to the arrival of the paramedics.’ When the paramedics arrived, Brittany was ‘without signs of life’,” TMZ further informs after reviewing police notes taken on the scene.

TMZ was also the media outlet that broke the news of the death of the actress early Sunday morning. Hours later, a rep for the star and the family issued two separate statements to confirm the tragic news. Brittany Murphy, star of “Clueless,” “Sin City” and “8 Mile,” was just 32 years old and is survived by her husband.
