A family from Alabama managed to burn their house to the ground in an attempt to get rid of the toilet paper hanging in their yard's Magnolia tree. Annoyed by the pesky pieces of paper, Cheryl Crausewell believed that by setting them on fire her workload would decrease considerably, and it did.

The members of the Crausewell family from Dora, Alabama were the victims of a “toilet-papered house” prank from the local children. The paper was rolled around the house and the garden, and despite their struggle, Cheryl and her son couldn't manage to remove all of the pieces.

After hours of cleaning, they managed to remove most of the mess, but they still could not find a way to clean the remaining mess in the tree, so they decided to set it on fire with a lighter.

The two were right in at least one way, the remains of the paper disappeared, but so did their entire house.

With the wind blowing quite strong, burning pieces were spread across the yard and ended up on a tank of propane near the barbecue. The fire spread igniting the grass and setting the whole house in flames in just a few moments, under the couple's eyes.

“It just popped out into a little patch and we tried to put it out and it just kept going, so I was trying to keep it from going down the front porch and came down the bank and around the back of the house,” Ms. Crausewell explained, according to the Independent.

The fire engulfed the whole property in a matter of seconds, despite the family's attempt to put it out. Luckily, Cheryl, her son, her mother, her aunt and a care worker who was inside the house at the time were able to exit the property and no one was hurt.

The Crausewells had home insurance and are now planning on rebuilding the home in the same place. If they’ve learned anything, it’s that their lives are quite precious and small things believed to be insignificant can cause major issues and pose a threat to one's safety.
