The classic Fallout games (Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics) have disappeared from digital distributors at the turn of the year, but according to the rights holder, they will be making a comeback.

ZeniMax Media, the parent company of video game developer Bethesda Softworks, had reached a settlement in the lawsuit against Interplay Entertainment during the fall of 2012, resulting in the former owning the intellectual property rights to the franchise and the latter being granted the right to sell the classic Fallout games up until December 31, 2014.

Following the changing of hands of the fallout franchise’s distribution rights, the three games have disappeared from digital retailers' shelves, but according to an official tweet from Bethesda, they are currently working on bringing the games back to Steam.

In response to fans’ questions, Bethesda has added that it will have a look at other publishing options once distribution through Steam is properly handled.

Also mentioned was the fact that Fallout 3 players should still be able to play the game once Games For Windows Live closes down on July 1, 2014.
