The man behind the Fallout 4 teaser website that turned out to be a hoax has come forward and confirmed that the reason he built the project was to force Bethesda to confirm the new game ahead of time.

Fallout 4 has been at the center of a massive debate in the past few weeks as a special teaser website called TheSurvivor2299 appeared online, hosting a mysterious countdown and broadcasting Morse code messages.

Unfortunately for fans who carefully studied and decoded every transmission, it turned out to be a hoax.

Now, the man behind the website has come forward on Reddit and answered questions from Fallout fans.

According to the guy, the main reason for the hoax was to force Bethesda to reveal something about Fallout 4 or at least confirm its existence.

Seeing as how that didn't work, he admitts that the whole move now seems quite arrogant.
