Bethesda is working with Microsoft and Sony

Bethesda confirms that Fallout 4 PC mods will launch on the PS4 as well, not just on the Xbox One. It also emphasizes that many hurdles need to be passed until the system is in place on each platform, so they won't be available at launch in November.

Fallout 4 got a huge amount of different details at E3 2015 this week, with Bethesda sharing plenty of information with fans about its post-apocalyptic role-playing experience that will arrive on November 10 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms.

While gameplay details and videos were quite impressive, by far the most interesting tidbit of information was that mods made for Fallout 4 on PC would be available on the Xbox One consoles.

Mods are also coming to Fallout 4 on PS4

Now, while talking with GameSpot, Bethesda's Pete Hines confirms that the PC mods made for Fallout 4 will also be available on the PS4, although probably at a later point in time, after the Xbox One gets them.

Apparently, there are still many technical hurdles to bypass, including many restrictions from both Sony and Microsoft. Given the PC experience of Microsoft and the Xbox One software, things are going to be a bit easier on that platform.

"Why Microsoft? They are a company that is in both of those spaces; they're heavily in the PC space; they're heavily in the console space. They had some pretty good ideas about how to make something like this work. The difficulty is there is no real system in place right now today that allows for it in the way we're talking about it, which is you're on a PC, you're making all this stuff on a PC; you're not just building a new level, you're making massive, wholesale changes to a game," he explains.

Fallout 4 launches on November 10, worldwide. The official Creation Kit will be released for PC in early 2016, while mod support on Xbox One is expected to follow soon after that, and then for the PS4. However, it's quite possible that not all mods made for the PC version of the game will work on consoles, given their hardware and restrictions.
