The company is trying out some new ideas

Fallout 4 has just been officially revealed, but it seems that the team in charge of it at Bethesda has to deal with a lot of questions from the fan community, and the problem of confirmed platforms was one of the first to be addressed completely.

When the game was first shown, the company only talked about planning to deliver it on the PC, the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

Since then, some bits of page source code also mentioned older devices, and some gamers were hoping that Legacy versions for Fallout 4 would be announced at a later date.

Now, Matt Grandstaff, the global community leader at Bethesda, explains in a post on NeoGAF that the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 will not allow the developers to deliver a full experience of the title, saying that "stuff we’re doing will never work there."

However, the game maker is not ready to offer clear details about the mechanics that will not be possible on older devices.

Since Fallout 4 was announced, some fans of the series have expressed disappointment with the graphics shown in the reveal trailer and have suggested that there's nothing included in the title that could not be offered on last-gen hardware.

Bethesda aims to deliver more details about the title during its E3 press conference, which will take place on June 14.

Fallout 4 does not yet have a launch date.

The post-apocalyptic action moves to Boston

The reveal trailer might have been a letdown for some fans, but it does give some hints about the coming Bethesda experience.

The action will take place in Boston and around the city, and there are some impressive locations being teased, including at least one that has some very interesting noir influences.

No details have so far been offered on the combat system, the presence of VATS, and the kind of story included in the game.

Todd Howard is the director of Fallout 4, a position that he has also occupied for the previous title in the series.

This suggests that Bethesda is not aiming to make a lot of fundamental changes to the series, relying on a change of locations and some improved mechanics in order to capture the attention of players.
