Do you need to upgrade?

With Fallout 3 going gold and preparing for launch, Bethesda has decided to release the system requirements, both minimum and recommended, for the PC version of the post apocalyptic role playing game. After a quick glance, it doesn't seem like the game will require a lot of computing power to run.

At a minimum, you will need a 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4 processor with 1 GB of RAM to play the game. On the video side, players will require a card with 256 MB of RAM with a processor that is at least an NVIDIA 6800 or an ATI X850. This kind of hardware will only make the game run at minimal graphics setting and will likely result in an experience which does not completely live to what the developers aimed to offer.

So, it's better to look at the recommended system requirements and try to upgrade to meet them. The developers say that you should have the equivalent of an Intel Core 2 Duo processor with at least 2 GB of RAM available. You also need a video card which has 512 MB of video RAM and is powered by at least an NVIDIA 8800 series or an ATI 3800 processor.

From the initial stages of development, Bethesda said that it planned on creating a game that maintained the look and feel of the first two Fallout games while significantly upgrading the way the world looks. After having seen the trailers and screenshots made available, Fallout 3 is really stunning, both in the open space of Washington and inside, while fighting the people affected by radiation.

Fallout 3 will be available for the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 in North America on October 28, while Europe will get the game on October 31. Japan will have to wait until December 4 to play Fallout 3.
