A brand new report has appeared online claiming that Fallout 3 on the PC might finally remove its Games for Windows Live restriction soon enough, judging by recent changes made to its Steam listing.

Microsoft will shut down its Games for Windows Live service later this year and, so far, quite a few games that used the problematic software have received patches that eliminated all need for it, including Batman: Arkham Asylum or City, for example.

Now, it seems that Fallout 3 might follow, as recent changes have been made to the game's listing on the SteamDB, pertaining to the CD Key prompt shown when starting the game and the key registration method in the registry.

For those who didn't play Fallout 3 on the PC, the game used Games for Windows Live, which required a CD key to be introduced so that it allowed you to play it.

No longer showing the CD key in a readily available location means that the GfWL requirement might soon be eliminated.
