The GOG.com Winter Promo kicks off with an offering that makes history: for the first 48 hours of the promotion, the ancestors of modern era post-apocalyptic role-playing games, acclaimed Fallout 1, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics, will be available for free on the website.

The 2013 DRM-free Winter Sale brings loads more attractions to PC and Mac gamers, with daily recommended deals from YouTube celebrities, customer's choice daily bundles and even special mystery gifts that together deliver more than 500 games for 50 percent off or more.

The rights for the Fallout franchise change hands on December 31 and GOG will no longer be able to sell the titles. Consequently, now is the best time and maybe last chance to grab the complete original Fallout series.

The special offers from GOG will be available across the span of two weeks, and in order to make sure that gamers check in constantly they will feature three different types of daily deals.

Each day, a selection of deeply-discounted celebrated classics and new acclaimed indies will be showcased by a well-known YouTube gaming channel in a daily sale of up to 75 percent off.

GOG.com's community will also have their say, each day being able to vote on which of two different game bundles will get an up to 80 percent discount.

Additionally, each registered GOG.com user will receive daily Mystery Boxes with gifts of special sales and even free games.

All games placed on sale are covered by the online retailer's recently announced 30 Day Money Back Guarantee worldwide, so players can try out any title they've been curious about without worries.

The 2013 DRM-free Winter Sale will feature celebrity guests like YOGScast, Jesse Cox and WowCrendor in addition to the flurry of discounted games and custom deals.

The Winter Promo ends on December 29, at 13:59 GMT.
