One of the leading developers at Stardock working on the upcoming Fallen Enchantress expansion for the strategy title Elemental: War of Magic has said that the team is very careful to make sure that the game does not suffer from the launch issues that have plagued the original launch.

Speaking to Gamespot Derek Paxton, who is the lead designer and producer working on Fallen Enchantress, has stated, “There are now dedicated people for the critical aspects of game development. There are dedicated producers, designers, and a formalized production pipeline that we have borrowed from the enterprise software world.”

He added, “The design is focused, fixed (with some flexibility as we iterate and improve), and communicated to the team. Time is set aside for iteration (after we are feature complete) rather than still implementing critical features until release day.”

Paxton is well known for working on the popular Fall from Heaven mods for Civilization IV, gaming experiences that are close to Elemental in a lot of ways.

The developer also says that a lot of the systems in Elemental have been recreated form the ground up for Fallen Enchantress, aiming to give players only the information they need when playing the game instead of swamping them with every bit of data the game can generate.

The original Elemental was hyped as a reimagining of the turn-based strategy space by the developers at Stardock before being launched, but the game failed to meet expectations when it was out, with a lot of the game mechanics pretty much broken.

Since then Stardock has created and launched a number of patches for the game, significantly changing the game experience and Fallen Enchantress will show what the game can truly offer to gamers.

The expansion will be offered for free for all those who bought the original Elemental on launch or soon after.
