Fallen: A2P Protocol is a turn-based tactics and strategy game, set in a post-apocalyptic world and sharing a lot of elements with classics like XCOM and Fallout.

The Argentinian studio behind the projects intends to pay homage to the original X-COM games, as well as to Fallout and Shadowrun, and to widen the array of contemporary choices that modern gamers have in the genre.

Red Katana has taken to Kickstarter to raise the necessary funds to continue development of Fallen, and also to ensure that it gets valuable feedback and ideas from gamers invested in the project, scheduled for now to come to PC, with stretch goals expanding to Mac, Linux, tablets, and even to consoles like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The action takes place in the year 2125, when mankind's thirst for mastery over its domain led to the creation of a new and unstable energy source, called A2P. Those who foresaw the danger of A2P rallied into a single entity, a rebel group bent on stopping the corporation that prevented the entire world from carrying forward its plan.

A2P's side effects were quick to manifest themselves, and with natural disasters ravaging the planet and Earth's weather forever changes, most of the world turned into a desolate wasteland.

At its core, Fallen: A2P Protocol is a turn-based tactical combat game, with a wide array of actions that can be performed each turn. Each of the missions that players will face will present different challenges to overcome, and random events will further alter the balance of power and raise the stakes of the game, requiring that users constantly alter tactics in order to ensure victory.

Gamers have to use the environment to their advantage, and learn when it can be an ally and when it becomes a deadly enemy. Quick weather fluctuations affect gameplay, reduce movement, make aiming difficult and even cause damage.

Players will be tasked with driving and managing their caravan through the devastated world, scavenging for supplies, armor and ammunition, and making decisions that will shape the future of the world.

The destructible environments and limited ammo introduce a more tactical element to the consecrated turn-based tactics gameplay, and the day-night cycles allow for unique opportunities to be exploited.

Furthermore, the character progression options and the player-focused role-playing game elements offer the game more depth and replay value.

The team has been working on the game for around a year, but they still have a long way to go, with a third of the necessary funds to get the project off the ground raised at the moment of writing, with 17 more days to go in the campaign.
