An unidentified man was stabbed in the neck after the Falcons – San Francisco 49ers game in Atlanta, on Sunday, January 20.

According to My Fox Atlanta, the 35-year-old man was assaulted by the Silver Lot, outside Gate D, on the south side of the Georgia Dome. The incident occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m., after the game ended, in the Dome parking lot.

Witnesses told police that he was a Falcons fan, who got into an argument with 3 people who supported the 49ers. The latter team won the NFL Championship Game.

A man and two women were involved in a verbal altercation with the victim. However, it was the victim that threw the first punch at the male San Francisco fan.

The man retaliated, using a knife to slash the Falcons supporter's throat. There is no indication of how serious the wounds were.

He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he is currently hospitalized, and he was in stable condition while being carried away.

The man's cousin told reporters that the argument was related to the game that his favorite team lost. She describes the scene as “mayhem,” and adds that the three people with whom her cousin argued brought the weapon to the stadium.

Even as the fight broke out immediately after the game, authorities cannot say for sure that the two men actually attended it.

The Georgia World Congress Center Authority Police are investigating the incident, and they are collaborating with the Atlanta Police Department to take the necessary steps.

This is not the only altercation that took place after the game. An employee at the Dome mentioned that several other fights were started inside the stadium.

We will keep you updated on this as the story unfolds.
