This is the second time Reuters is a target in less than a week

It appears that there’s a group of hackers with a mission to post fake Syria stories and make them appear as if they come from Reuters. The renowned news agency’s ReutersTech Twitter account was hijacked yesterday and false headlines were published.

The incident comes only days after Reuter’s website was compromised to host a story about the retreat of the Free Syria Army (FSA).

Now, the unknown group of hackers once again attempted to dupe readers into believing that thousands of Free Syria Army soldiers were killed in Aleppo.

Worldwide Nieuws caught a glimpse of the fake posts before they were deleted:

FSA source complains that Syrian army ‘broke their back’ in Salah Al Deen, known as Baba Amro of Aleppo.

FSA demands no fly zone: “Battle in Aleppo impossible to win and impossible to retreat”

Syrian army source anonymously states that Aleppo battle is like “shooting fish in barrel”, says victory is near.

Not all the tweets were about the FSA. Some of them mentioned Bill Clinton and US President Barack Obama:

Clinton vows to “make Egyptian pay a heavy price” after being humiliated with chants mentioning Monica.

Friends all along: Obama signs executive order to release classified info that US never stopped funding Al Qaeda since 80’s.

Lawyers threaten Obama with NDAA (anti-terror) law for funding AlQaeda in Syria and Libya.

“Earlier today @ReutersTech was hacked and changed to @reutersME. The account has been suspended and is currently under investigation,” read a tweet from the @Reuters Twitter account after the situation was sorted out.

No hacker collective has taken credit for this second breach, but still the main suspect remains the Syrian Electronic Army, a group known for heavily supporting the current government and aiding it in defending its infrastructures against hacktivists who oppose it.
