As the ABC hit series reached its third season and its road to success is just getting rosier by the day, diva-like behavior (even among men!) is something that is simply bound to happen. Well, the same goes for Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey, who got really physical while preparing to shoot a scene of 'Grey's Anatomy'.
It seems that the trouble started when they were shooting outside and that Washington, who plays Dr. Burke, had some things to say to T.R. Knight (the mild-mannered Dr. O'Malley) about being late or about not being prepared for a scene that he wanted finished. When the first began to show signs of violence, Patrick Dempsey (Dr. McDreamy) cut in, telling him to pick on someone of his own size.
Hearing this, Washington made a sudden move at Dempsey, grabbing him by the neck and hurling all kinds of insults, among which 'bitch' was the mildest. He then 'stormed off to his trailer to cool off, while Patrick and T.R. stood there in disbelief', a source on the set told the media.
Both publicists for the actors denied that Washington ever got physical towards his colleagues, but they did admit that a scuffle took place. 'Differences are inevitable. They were aired, resolved and everybody moved on', said Washington's spokesperson, being backed up by Dempsey's: 'There was an argument on the set. In any close-knit family, sometimes people argue. But everybody made up and went back to work'.
Besides solving their issues, even if by less traditional means, Washington also learned a very important thing about his fellow co-star: 'I've never been that close to [Dempsey] before. He has really pretty blue eyes', he told 'People' Magazine.
