Darcy Gordon went on the “Star Flyer” ride from Edinburgh's fairground, believing she would have fun with one of her friends, but the fun ride turned into a horror one when the chair broke in mid-air and the couple was left hanging on the ropes until it stopped.

The young, 23-year-old mother described the most terrifying experience of her life when she was left dangling on a rope almost 200 ft (61 meters) in the air. The fiberglass chair the couple was sitting on broke and the back part fell to the ground while the scared woman was trying to save her life clinging on the ropes.

“We had just got to the top when I felt the back of the seat come away but the ride kept going on and we were clinging to the ropes at the sides,” the woman tells Daily Mail. The woman struggled to keep her grip to the ropes and was in a state of shock after getting off the ride, as she was sure she wouldn't make it back to the ground alive.

The ride's staff almost ignored the two and just kept insisting they should move on, “none of the staff showed any concern towards us – they just kept saying [to] keep walking,” Miss Gordon added. The woman said this actually was the scariest experience of her life and the way the staff treated her just left a big disgust for the whole fairground.

The fairground attraction was previously closed for maintenance but opened later that day for the public. There were thousands of people walking around the attraction park at the time, but luckily the fallen seat didn't hurt anyone.

One eyewitness snapped a photo of the fallen seat before finding out where it came from, “a guy in the crowd then told us that a seat had fallen off. It all happened so fast that it was only later we thought about what could have happened. Someone could easily have been killed,” the man confessed.

The management agreed to offer Miss Gordon and her friend a refund and also to repair her phone which was damaged while she was trying to save her life hanging on to the side ropes. Officials agreed to imposing a detailed safety inspection in order to avoid any similar situations.
