Ever since the marriage of movie superstars Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger has started to crumble apart (waaaaaaaaaaay back in 2000), nothing but foul words have been circulated in the media in relation to the two former 'soul mates'. However, these did not come from the journalists but from the estranged husband and wife and were aimed at one another, meant to destroy reputations and sully good names.
The Basinger-Baldwin divorce is probably one of the most famous cases of celebrities doing their dirty laundry in the public eye, since it's one of the most long-lasting and profanity laden. Both actors resorted to everything that you can think of when they really wanted to make their point heard, even if that meant whoring themselves out for the media and digging up past miseries and secrets.
To sum up the many years of lawsuits that followed the official separation would almost prove to be an impossible task: suffice to say that it was a long, bitter and mostly ugly battle. What made it all the more worse was the fact that, right in the middle of it, Ireland was caught - Alec and Kim's daughter and probably the only one who really could do nothing to stop the bitchin'. And, just when we thought it was all over, Alec put his foot back in his mouth, the only difference being that, this time, he might as well keep it in there.
After fighting through all legal way possible over the custody of Ireland, Alec and Kim seemed to have reached an agreement in what concerned her - she was to continue living with her mother while her father would enjoy visitation rights, not restricted in any way by the court. Well, I guess we can say he blew this chance right out of the window! And also showed us why he should be made father of the year!
In a tape that was leaked to TMZ (presumably by Kim Basinger herself), Alec is heard launching on a volcanic tirade against his only daughter (whose age he doesn't even recall, by the way), calling her names like 'thoughtless little pig' and promising to 'straighten [her] a*s out' the next chance he gets to spend time with him. Which is today!
What got Baldwin so fired up? Well, the insensitive little brat that is Ireland (to paraphrase from his rambling) had the audacity to shut off her phone when she knew he was supposed to call her. That's what she needs her a*s straightened about, according to the B-rated actor. Plus, the call was also a good opportunity for him to bash Kim some more, as if she wasn't Ireland's mother: 'I don't give a damn that you're 12-years-old or 11-years-old, or a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass who doesn't care about you. You've made me feel like s**t!' Ouch, daddy, those are some fine parental skills you have!
When the judge in charge of their custody battle was presented with the tape, he suspended Baldwin's visitation rights until a new hearing scheduled for May 4. His camp is claiming that Basinger is responsible for the leak of the tape and that he has already apologized to Ireland for his outburst. This is what the dumba*s had to say: 'In the best interest of the child, Alec will do what the mother is pathologically incapable of doing... keeping his mouth shut and obeying the court order. The mother and her lawyer leaked this sealed material in violation of a court order. Although Alec acknowledges that he should have used different language in parenting his child, everyone who knows him privately knows what he has been put through for the past six years'.
Even if Kim is really behind the tape going public, this doesn't mean Alec was right when speaking the way he did. CLICK HERE to hear it but, be advised, there is some very strong language involved.
