Not exactly the most surprising of predictions or the hardest to calculate, but Facebook is expected to hit one billion active users, i.e. users that log in at least once a month, by this summer, if the growth rate continues as until now.
Given that the social network has been growing in a rather linear fashion for the past three years or so, there's no reason to believe this will change in the next six months.
And if that is the case, Facebook should hit the magic number by August, iCrossing reckons. It even provides a nice little graph detailing the growth.
Facebook has stopped growing, at least in any meaningful way, in the US, UK and other countries which took to the site early, but still has long ways to go in many other places. So much so that the one billion mark should just be another milestone in its path, it will grow well beyond that in the years to come.
